Deborah "Debbie" Jo Hoskins, age 72, of Hannibal, MO passed away Sunday, February 25, 2024, at Barnes Jewish Hospital with her loving family at her side.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Friday, March 1, 2024, at the Grand View Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Grand View Burial Park. Rev. Jason Young will officiate.
Visitation celebrating Debbie's life will be held 12:00 pm until the time of the service Friday at the Grand View Funeral Home.
Deborah was born on February 17, 1952, in Hannibal, MO the daughter of Loren J. and Martha (Lennox) Bower.
She was united in marriage to James "Jim" R. Hoskins on November 14, 1970, in Hannibal, MO.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Hoskins of the home; father, Loren Bower of Quincy, IL; children, Jamie Hoskins and wife Heather of Warsaw, IL, Ashley Pryor and Jason Krigbaum of Hannibal, MO and Brent Smith of Hannibal, MO; grandchildren, Bryce Pryor (Jenna) and precious great granddaughter, Remy, Brayden Pryor (Kelsie), Briley Pryor, Tre Hoskins, Kade Hoskins, Harley Hoskins and Brant Hoskins; sister, Tammy Willis and special great nephew, Titus Gauch; and brother, Jeff Bower; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Debbie was preceded in death by her mother, Martha Sue Lennox on October 12, 1981, and by her grandmother Edith Lennox.
Debbie graduated from Hannibal High School. She ran a daycare out of her home for several years, taking care of many local children. She later worked at White Star Laundry before retiring as a Lead with Manpower at General Mills.
Debbie was a loving wife, daughter, mother, "Mama" as her grandchildren called her, sister and aunt. Family was everything to Debbie, she cherished helping raise her grandchildren. She was always her children and grandchildren's biggest supporter when it come to their school activities, from sports to her grandson's hunting and fishing, she was always proud of their accomplishments. Trips with her husband, "Jim Bob" as Debbie sometime referred to him as and sister, Tammy to Quincy to visit their father and then on the way home they would make a trip up to LaGrange to try their luck at the boat was something that Debbie always looked forward to along with going to flea markets and antique shops. Las Vegas was another place that Debbie enjoyed traveling to several times and trying her luck at the slot machines. In her free time, Debbie loved writing poetry, crafts, playing Solitaire and tending to her flowers and landscaping in her yard.
Debbie was a Christian by faith.
Pallbearers: Jamie Hoskins, Jason Krigbaum, Bryce Pryor, Brayden Pryor, Tre Hoskins and Kade Hoskins.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, in care of the Smith Funeral Home & Chapel.
