Gary James

Gary Keith James, 77, of Palmyra, Missouri passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2024, with his family by his side..

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Monday, September 23, 2024 at Grand View Funeral Home. Pastor Paul Reese will officiate. Burial with full Military Honors provided by Palmyra Legion Post #174, will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

A visitation celebrating Gary's life will be held at 10:00 am until time of the service, Monday, September 23, 2024 at the Grand View Funeral Home.

Gary was born April 22, 1947, in Koshkonong Missouri, to Percy and Opal James.

Gary graduated in 1965 from Monroe City R-1 High School.  After graduation, he served in the United States Army from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Germany.  He married the love of his life, Linda Drebes, on June 10, 1967.  To this union, two sons were born.

Gary spent his career behind the wheel of a truck.  He was a truck driver by trade and owned his own business for 35 years.  Gary loved to garden in his later years.  He was a master gardener and loved to give his produce away to his family and friends.  Gary loved spending time with his family especially his grandchildren.  He loved to attend their ballgames, see them ride their horses, and travel the country with them.  Gary was an avid St Louis Cardinal fan.  He spent many hours in the summer watching their games on the tv.

Gary was loved by many and will be missed by all that knew him.  Gary is survived by his wife, Linda James, of Palmyra, MO; two sons, Darin James of Denver, Colorado, and Kevin James (Christy) of Palmyra, MO.  Gary was a very special grandpa to William, Thomas, Anna, and Christian James.  He is also survived by his brother Clem James (Linda) and sister Beverly (Gene) Forney and numerous nieces and nephews.  Gary was proceeded in death by his parents Percy and Opal James, brother, Edward James, and grandson Sean James.

Gary was a member of the First Baptist Church of Palmyra.

Memorials can be made to the Palmyra School Foundation.
