Betty J Brown, age 84, of Quincy, IL passed away at 5:27 pm Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Blessing Hospital in Quincy.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, August 2, 2023 at Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Brandon Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Kahoka, MO.

A visitation celebrating Betty's life will be held at 10:00 am until 11:00 am Wednesday August 2, 2023 at the Grand View Funeral Home.

Betty was born on November 28, 1938, in Hannibal, Missouri the daughter of Charles and Elva (Willing) Nelson.

She was united in marriage to Charles Brown on August 19, 1980, in Las Vegas.

Betty is survived by three Daughters, Deanna Griffin (Kenneth) of Quincy, IL, Arnetta Gauch of Hannibal, MO, Mary Hardy (Kevin) of Hannibal, MO; a Son, John Shelburne of Quincy, IL; Five Grandsons, Otis Gauch, III of Hannibal, MO, Chuckie Murphy (Rachel) of Hannibal, MO, Robert Murphy (Sara) of Hannibal, MO, Lance Gauch (Amanda) of Hannibal, MO, Josh Hardy (Amanda) of New London, MO;  and two Granddaughters, Tana Darnell (Ryan) of Hannibal, MO, and Rachel Doran (Steven Miller) of Hannibal, MO; 18 Great grandchildren, and 2 Great-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents Charles and Elva, her husband Charles, four Brothers, Ray Nelson, Gene Nelson, Charles Nelson, and Benny Joe Nelson, and Three Sisters, Myrtle Sinclair, Rosie Marshall, and Cleo Cox.

Betty graduated from Hannibal and would go on to work at many places most notably as a sewing machine operator at Quincy Specialties.

Betty was a member of the Hannibal First Assembly of God.

Betty loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, they were her passion and her life. She also loved the Lord, singing and playing a variety of instruments, and especially her church Hannibal First Assembly of God. She enjoyed Christmas, decorating her house with great care, Cardinal Baseball, WWE Wrestling, and spending hours watching game shows. She is famous for her Texas Sheet cake that she would bake each Thanksgiving.
