Edward Eugene Van Sickle Sr, 70, of Ralls County, Missouri went to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ surrounded by his family at Hannibal Regional Hospital on August 31, 2020.
Visitation will be Saturday, September 12, 2020 from 10 to 11 a. m. at Salem Baptist Church in Center, Missouri. Funeral services will follow. He will be laid to rest in Salem Cemetery.
Edward was born to Archie Orin Van Sickle and Laverna May Lemery Van Sickle, they both preceded him in death as well as his brother Floyd Van Sickle. He married Carol Sue Huss on May 19, 1972; she survives.
He is survived by one son, Eddie (Cheralinn) Van Sickle and one daughter, Kelli (Roger) Pafford; three brothers, Duane Van Sickle, Archie (Virginia) Van Sickle and Harold (Carolyn) Van Sickle; and seven sisters, Joyce (Charles) Armour, Jean (Norman) Clark, Rose (Wayne) Weldy, Helen Dowell, Viola (Bob) Jordan, Mary (Herman) Steinman and Virginia (Dean) Strohm; and one sister-in-law Marsha Jansen; five grandchildren; Cierra Van Sickle, Kelsey (Keith) McCoy, Kourtney (Andrew) McCoy, Kimberly (JC) Hitchcock and Karee (Zack) Feather; six great grandchildren, Tanner, Gabriel, Kalisa, Aliciia, Bronx, Brooklynn; and numerous nephews and nieces.
Edward retired with over 40 years of service to Knapheide Manufacturing in Quincy, Il. He worked in many different departments and most enjoyed the close relationships he had. He was a 45-year veteran of The Grand Lodge of International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers.
Edward was a US Army Veteran and served his country proudly. Edward loved his family and extended family so much. His church family was such a joy in his life. He didn't like to miss church. He made it a priority to be there to learn more about where he was headed. He was a member of Salem Baptist Church and enjoyed the men's breakfast gatherings, the Iron Horse bible study group and attending the Gospel Shed in Hannibal, Mo. The Van Sickle reunion and deer season were among his favorite times of the year.
He loved his bib overalls, his cats and fixing or salvaging things. He rarely asked for help and loved to come up with ways to solve problems. When he knew of something going on...he was not just there... He was the first one there. He would tell you he hated technology but loved staying in touch with his "perfectly good flip phone". Edward will truly be missed by his family and friends.
The family requests memorials be given to the Salem Baptist Church and condolences can be sent to grandviewfuneral.com website.
