Fred Tate, age 71, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 9:50 am Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be held Friday, November 8, 2024 at 2:00 pm at the Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Jason Young will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.
A visitation celebrating Fred's Life will be held at Grand View Funeral Home at 1:00 pm.
Fred was born on March 15, 1953, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Delbert and Dorothy Tate (Yarbrough), They along with brother Mike Tate precede him in death.
Fred is survived by a brother, Mark Tate (Andrea) of Hannibal, MO, and daughters; Tricia Suter, (T.J.) of Hannibal, MO, Alexis Tate of Hannibal, MO, and Haley Tate of Hannibal, MO. As a grandfather, he took immense joy in his grandchildren-Sydney Keesey, Levi Suter, Jameson White, Dylan Suter, Ryleigh Butler, Baylee Butler, Abigail Suter, and his great-granddaughter, Emma Suter.
Fred worked for many years as a dedicated River Pilot, Fred navigated the waters with the same care and commitment he brought to every aspect of his life. His career was not just a job; it was a reflection of his love for the outdoors and his adventurous spirit. Those who knew him best recognized him as a simple man with a remarkable zest for life. Fred was always eager to share a conversation with anyone he met, often gifting Bibles to spread his faith in God. He had an inquisitive nature and a unique ability to find humor in everyday situations, with a bad dad joke always at the ready. He would help anyone who had need, loved to fix things that were broke, ride motorcylce and bicycle, and being around animals. Fred for sure left an indelible mark on all who crossed his path.
Fred Tate will be deeply missed, cherished in our hearts, and remembered for the joy and warmth he brought to our lives. His legacy of strength, kindness, and unwavering support will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know him.
