Linda Lee Powell

Linda Lee Powell, aged 83 years, passed away on September 20, 2024, in Owensville, Missouri. Linda was born on August 13, 1941. She was a graduate from the final class of ILASCO High School in 1959.
Linda was known for her love of flower gardening, interior decorating and remodeling.
Flowers and plants were a priority of hers. Both inside and outside of the home were continuously adorned with annuals and perennials. She kept one indoor plant alive for 50 years (it survives).
She loved to change her home’s surroundings. Painting, wall papering, rearranging and replacing furniture were all exciting for her. She loved the entire process from selecting the materials to her countless hours of time invested.
She was involved in a remodel and later an addition to her house. Closely observing the contractors must have given her confidence for a much larger undertaking.
The flood of ’93 displaced her parents. In ’94 she managed much of the construction of their new house.
After working for Burlington Northern, Linda had a ball selling Sarah Coventry Jewelry for many years. Later in life she found the same enjoyment organizing her perpetual garage sale. She did not throw anything away. Finding new owners for her items prevented that.
As a mother, she was dedicated to raising her only son. She never missed a game or any important school function. She was a well of constant guidance.
Linda was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ronald D. Powell; her parents, John & Margorie Novel; father-in-law, Emmett Powell, mother-in-law, Corinne Powell; sister-in-law, Cheryl Rozelle and brother-in-law, Eugene Rozelle .
She is survived by her son Lee Powell; daughter-in-law, Kimberly Powell; grandson, Rylee Powell; brother-in-law, Terrill Powell; niece, Ally Leonard and her husband Clay; niece, Amy Cox and her husband John; one great-niece Maya Leonard and one great nephew Finn Leonard.
A graveside service will be held at Grand View Burial Park on September 28, 2024, at 10:00 a.m.
