Margie Ellen Scholes, 86, of Hannibal, MO, died at 11:45 a.m. on Wednesday, December 16, 2015, at the Maple Lawn Nursing Home, in Palmyra, MO.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 19, 2015 from 10 a.m. until time of service at 11 a.m.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. Father Mike Quinn will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Margie was born on December 5, 1929, in Peoria, IL, the daughter of Frank and Caroline Fries Melvin. She married Gene Scholes Sr. on April 4, 1948 in Washington, IL and he preceded her in death.
Her parents and one brother, Larry Melvin, also preceded her in death.
She is survived by two sons, Gene (Kathryn) Scholes Jr. and Gary (Peggy) Scholes Sr. both of New London, MO; two daughters, Debbie (Larry) Catlett of Hannibal, MO and Joyce (Randy Kerker) Scholes of Creve Coeur, IL; 13 grandchildren, Gene (Tricia) Scholes, Michael J. (Carol) Scholes, Melissa (Joe) Young, Becky Scholes, Gary (Jennifer) Scholes, Cindy (Cory) Young, Donald (Nicole) Couchot, Suzi (Wayne) Cain, Michael E. Scholes, Margee (Shawn) Tucker, Jenni (Joey) Welch, Sonny (Lesley) Catlett and Skeeter Golian, and 29 great grandchildren.
Pallbearers are Gene Scholes III, Mike Scholes, Sonny Catlett, Gary Scholes Jr., Joey Welch and Shawn Tucker.
Margie had been a past president of PTA, and a Girl Scout leader for many years. She was a member of the Holy Family Church. She enjoyed watching wrestling, especially her favorite wrestler, Roman Reigns, and could be found on Monday and Thursday nights enjoying wrestling on TV. But most of all, she enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren and all their family events. She will be remembered as a kind, gentle, and caring woman.
