Marilyn was born on July 22, 1941, in Hannibal, MO, the precious daughter of Ferren and Helen (Watts) Sims. She was united in marriage to her loving husband of sixty-five plus years Dean Hammock on June 28, 1959, at Antioch Baptist Church in rural Hannibal.

Marilyn's greatest treasure was her family. She reveled in spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, delighted by their laughter and joy. She shared special bonds with her husband, Dean Hammock, who stood proudly by her side. Marilyn is survived by her husband, Dean; her son, Terry Wayne Hammock and wife Cindy of Hannibal; daughters, Sheila Gosney and husband Bret of Monroe City, MO and Shelly Hubel and husband Peter of Colorado Springs, CO; her sister, Carole Sanders of Roseville, CA; along with her loving grandchildren, Nathan Hammock (Gaby), Sarah Olson (Caleb), Jacob Hammock (Jennifer), Terry Pettitt, Tyler Gosney (Kelby), Taylor Gosney, Lindsey Gelmon (Adam), and Noah Hubel (Morgan); great-grandchildren, Charlie Dean, Rilla Mae, Elsie Kate, Henley Jean, Aiden David, Alex Curtis, Emma Rose, and one great-granddaughter on the way.

Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ferren and Helen Sims, and her brothers, Wendell Terry Sims and Ferren Wesley Sims, as well as her sisters, Kaye Thomure and Beverly McSorley.

Marilyn's nurturing spirit shone through every facet of her life. As a dedicated homemaker, she ensured that her home was a sanctuary filled with love and laughter. An accomplished artist, she found joy in capturing the beauty of country scenes, painting them onto country-themed items. Her creativity was not confined to the canvas; it spilled over into her hobbies as well. Growing up on an apple orchard instilled in her a passion for baking that was unrivaled, she delighted in crafting apple pies and apple crisps that filled her home with enticing aromas. Shopping for the greatest bargain and attending every yard sale she drove by was another passion Marilyn enjoyed. Gardening was another of Marilyn's joys; her flower beds were a testament to her care and attention.

Her deep commitment to her faith in the Lord Jesus Christ was evidenced by her active involvement at Calvary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member and inspired many through her teaching in Sunday School. She was also the visionary behind the Samaritans Purse Shoe Box Ministry, sharing her love and compassion with those in need.

Marilyn was a prayer warrior who interceded in prayer for others. She also found the Word of God as a treasure.

Marilyn's memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who loved her. She was a friend to all, and her spirit of kindness and creativity will continue to inspire all who were fortunate enough to know her.

Those serving as pallbearers will be Nathan Hammock, Jacob Hammock, Tyler Gosney, Caleb Olsen, Noah Hubel, Peter Hubel and Bret Gosney. Honorary pallbearers serving will be Taylor Gosney, and Terry Pettitt.
