Mary P.K. Jones

Mary P. K. Jones, age 89, of Annapolis died of congestive heart failure at her home on September 20, 2017.
Mrs. Jones was the daughter of the late Frank Dallas Klever and Martha Loraine Klever. She was born in Hannibal, Missouri, 1928. After starting school in a one-room schoolhouse where her mother had taught for many years, she graduated from High School in 1945, and obtained a position at the Bureau of Naval Personnel in Arlington, Virginia.
In 1955 she married Earl K. Jones who died in 1990. Prior to his death, having built a house in Annapolis, she moved with her family from Arlington in 1959. After a 14 year break in service, Mrs. Jones began employment at the U.S. Naval Academy from where she retired in 1988. She received the Navy Meritorious Civilian Service Award upon retirement.
She was an active member of the Eastport United Methodist Church and for many years was a visitor and route coordinator for Meals on Wheels. Her interests also included reading calling the public library her "second home". Also, she enjoyed her cat "Angel" and many cat pets who preceded Angel throughout her lifetime. She regularly worked crossword puzzles and enjoyed traveling.
Surviving are her children, Ruth E. Gibbons (Robert) and Dallas Jones (Brenda) of Annapolis, four grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren. One other great grandchild, Lyndsay Valentine, is now deceased. She was preceded in death by her sister, Frances Haines. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews
Visitation will be Friday, September 29, 2017, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Grand View Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. Pastor Milton Baumgardner will officiate. Burial will follow at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Memorial contributions may be made to Eastport UMC (MD) or Hydesburg UMC (MO). Contributions made to Hydesburg UMC will be used for upkeep of the carillon, previously contributed by the family in memory of Mrs. Jones parents.
