Nancy  DeLaPorte, age 88, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 3:15 am Saturday, September 9, 2023, at Maple Lawn Nursing Home in Palmyra, MO.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm Friday, September 15, 2023 at Grand View Funeral Home. Jason Hargraves will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

A visitation celebrating Nancy's life will be held at 1:30 pm until 2:30 pm Friday September 15, 2023 at the Grand View Funeral Home.

Nancy was born on August 28, 1935, in Hannibal, Missouri the daughter of Francis and Clara (Edwards) Richmond.

She was united in marriage to Russell B. DeLaPorte on January 3, 1954 in Hannibal, MO.

She is survived by: Daughter, Dianne Campbell (Joseph) of Hannibal, MO; Three Sons, David A DeLaPorte (Joy) of Payson, IL, Dale A DeLaPorte of Hannibal, MO, Darrin A DeLaPorte (Tracey) of Hannibal, MO; Eight Grandsons, Jared Campbell (Bonnie) of Hannibal, MO, Matthew Campbell (Sarah) of Hannibal, MO, Stephen Campbell (Lacey) of Hannibal, MO, Tyler DeLaPorte (Chandra) of New London, MO, Kyle DeLaPorte (Amelia) of Hannibal, MO, Daniel A. DeLaPorte of Salt Lake City, UT, Jeremy DeLaPorte (Natalie) of Hannibal, MO, Benjamin DeLaPorte of Saint Louis, MO; Four Granddaughters, Rebecca (Campbell) Carver (Ryan) of Saint Petersburg, FL, Clare DeLaPorte of Saint Louis, MO, Meryle (DeLaPorte) Galloway (Rob) of Saint Louis, MO, Rene Abigail DeLaPorte of St. Louis, MO.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her loving husband, Russell and three sisters; Betty Stolte (Emmett), Margaret Given (Junior), Mary Brummer (John).

Nancy was a member of  Hannibal Peacemaker Quilt Guild, Pike-Lin Quilt Guild, Christian Bible Study Group, Campus Community Connectors of HLG University, Daughters of American Revolution, Harmony Chords, Red Stocking Follies, Kings Daughters, Eastern Star.

Nancy was a member of  Cornerstone Baptist Church.

Nancy loved music and fostered that love in her children by filling the house with music, singing on car rides, and providing for private music lessons. She was an avid reader, enjoying biographies and historical fiction. Nancy was most widely known for her precision as a piecemaker who created beautiful quilts for family and friends.

Nancy was hard working and helped to support her family alongside her loving husband Russell. She worked at Western Printing, sold advertising at the Hannibal Courier Post, managed the local Sears catalog store, and drove across the Midwest in the aftermath of a series of tornadoes while working for HUD. Eventually she opened her shop “Persnickety” where she taught painting lessons and sold art on consignment.
Family was her life and her joy, but her true foundation was her faith in Jesus Christ her personal Lord and Savior.
