Ronald Leroy Smith

Ronald (Ron) LeRoy Smith of Liberty, IL, unexpectedly passed away at the age of 78 on Sunday, September 23, 2018, at 6:33 P.M. at the Hannibal Regional Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
Ron was born on November 18, 1939, in Hannibal, MO, to Herbert Smith and Ida Rothfuss Smith. He served in the U.S. Army, worked at ADM Manufacturing for over 30 years, and worked his last eight years at Menards in Quincy, IL.
Ron was a huge family man, especially when it came to his grandkids, you could almost always see him in the stands or audience cheering them on and supporting them. He loved his family unconditionally. He also loved his bird dogs, wine making with his fiancé, and hunting and fishing, even more so when it was with his brothers and sons. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone, especially if it involved fixing something.
Ron's parents, and two brothers, Don and Ernie Smith preceded him in death.
He is survived by two sons, Scott (Janet) Smith and Eric Smith; three brothers, Larry Smith, Dennis (Lori) Smith, and Mike (Rita) Smith; two sisters, Linda (Dale) Hurley and Diane Halley; six grandchildren, Walker, Amelia, Wyatt, Sam, Jack, and Lily Smith; two sisters-in-law, Linda Smith and Helen Smith, and his fiancé, Janet Golian.
His visitation will be held Saturday, September 29, 2018, from 1:00 to 2:00 P.M. at the Olivet Christian Church in Center, MO, with the funeral service following at 2:00 P.M., Reverend Steve Goghnour will be officiating. The burial will conclude the ceremony at West Ely Cemetery in West Ely, MO.
Ron will be extremely missed by family and friends as their friend, brother, father, uncle, cousin, grandfather (Poppy), and so much more. They will never forget how fun, witty, compassionate, and loveable he was.
