Shelly Van Winkle, 72, of New London, MO, died at 9:00 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2015, at his home.
Visitation will be Monday, August 24, 2015 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at the Grand View Funeral Chapel.
Graveside services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2015, at the Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Pastor Tom Day will officiate.
Shelly was born on April 29, 1943, in Hannibal, MO, the son of Chester and Wanda Watts Van Winkle. He married Mary Sweeney on May 28, 1964 and she survives him in death.
His father and one sister, Pam Robertson, preceded him in death.
He is survived by his mother; one daughter, Melissa Cummings; one son, Curt Van Winkle; three brothers, Robert (Judi) Van Winkle, Pinky (Carol) Van Winkle and Wayne (Kati) Van Winkle; four grandchildren, Ashley Cummings, Paige Cummings, Bryce Cummings and Logan King; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, nephews, great great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Mark Van Winkle, Dean Van Winkle, David Van Winkle, Brandon Van Winkle, Jake Ludwig and Jim Lennox.
Honorary Pallbearers are Vernon Finlaw, Joey Van Winkle, Kenny Swank, Morris Kinipple, Jim Welch and Larry Dalton.
Shelly served in the Navy during Vietnam and was a member of the Emmette J. Shields Post 55. He worked for the Missouri Highway Department as a Highway Liaison Engineer before retiring.
