Beloved sister and aunt, Virginia Earlene Gardner has gone home to meet Jesus and her loving family in heaven on February 10, 2017, at 2:20 pm. She was 65 years, six months and ten days old.
Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017, from 4 to 7 pm at Grand View Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 10 am Thursday, February 16, 2017, Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Michael Miller will officiate.
She was born on July 23, 1951, to Earl W. and Virginia A. Flowers Gardner at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Hannibal, MO.
She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant brother, Earl Wayne Gardner; grandparents, Earnest and Lottie House Flowers and Herschal W. and Lola S. Stewart Gardner; several aunts, uncles, cousins, and a great great nephew, Gabriel Kealen.
She is survived by her sister, Janice Gardner Hasty; Nephew Earl David (Ruth) Hasty; two special great nieces, Annabell Brown and Jennifer (Brandon) Kealen-Inlow; great nephew, Ted Leon Kealen Jr.; great great nephew, Lance Inlow; two aunts, Mae (Bradley) Miller and Mary Wagoner; an uncle, Loren Flowers, and many cousins.
Earlene attended Frankford Grade School and graduated from Bowling Green High School in 1969. She graduated from the Hannibal Vocational School of Nursing as an LPN in 1979.
She also was in the last class of Blessing School of Nursing's three year RN progam and graduated in 1987. Earlene attended Hannibal LaGrange College and received her Bachelor's Degree in 1993.
She has worked at Levering Hospital; St. Elizabeth Hospital; St. Mary's ICU unit in Quincy, IL; was Director of Nursing at Westview Nursing Facility in Center, MO; a medicare MDS Nurse at Luther Manor Nursing facility; Smith Barr Nursing Facility in Louisiana, MO; Dr. Richard Valuck's nurse, and a nurse for the Hannibal Drug and Alcohol Facility. She retired from nursing in 2011 for health reasons.
She was of the Pentecostal faith and served as a Sunday school teacher, secretary of the church, and played the piano and occasionally the trumpet at the Louisiana Pentecostal Church for many years. In 2015 she transferred to the Gospel Lighthouse Church when she moved to Hannibal. She loved her family very much and enjoyed meeting and helping others. Her hobbies were watching TV; working in the yard; collecting foxes, owls and Precious Moments memorabilia; going to church bazaars and being the family photographer.
Pallbearers will be Dennis Page, Rev. Darryl Herren, Thomas Wagoner, Timothy Wagoner, Mark Schindler, and Joe Schindler. Honorary Pallbearers will be Russ Goodhart, Niel Maune Jr., Glen Flowers, Kenneth Young, Dennis Anderson, Ted Kealen Jr., Brandon Inlow, Carl (Mike) Brown Jr. and James Brown Sr.
