Louis Garrett

Louis "Junior" Garrett, age 95, of Hannibal, MO passed away at 12:38 pm Thursday, November 23, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at Grand View Funeral Home. Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial will be in the Grand View Burial Park.

A visitation celebrating Louis will be held at 10:00 am until 11:00 am Tuesday November 28, 2023 at the Grand View Funeral Home.

Louis was born on November 12, 1928, in Hannibal, Missouri the son of Louis and Lorena (Elwood) Garrett.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Banks in 1966 in Hannibal.

He is survived by Son, Louis (Kari) Garrett of Hannibal, MO; Daughter Della (Sam) Waters of Hannibal, MO, and R Diana Bunch of Plainfield, IL; Three Step Sons, Daniel (Kathy) David, Larry David, and Steven David; Brother, Glenn Garrett of Newark, MO; Five Grandsons, Chad Waters, Mark David, Cory David, Clinton David, Wes David; Four Granddaughters, Whitney (Aaron) Long, Victoria Bunch, Christina Chaplin, Madelyn Garrett; and many great-grandchildren, great, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents Louis and Lorena, his wife, Marjorie, a stepson, Dennis David and a great-grandson, Blake David.

Louis left school early, lied about his age, and joined the Army. He served his country in the Korean war, and then never talked about it. We are very grateful for his sacrifice and service.

Professionally Louis worked as a foreman for the Street Department of the city of Hannibal.

Louis loved to read, watch old western's, Cardinal baseball and football on TV. He enjoyed to be outdoors hunting and fishing. He enjoyed traveling with his wife Marjorie during the summer and fall months. He loved to tinker in his garage and did all kinds of wood working projects. And Louis was an animal lover. Especially all the neighbor hood homeless cats. He made sure they were fed, warm and well taken care of.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Northeast Missouri Humane Society, or the Cuddle Cat Rescue, in care of Grand View Funeral Home.
